Introducing The Running Late Club

In the lead up to our DIY Culture Challenge to mark World Mental Health Day, we are speaking to some of the communities that are joining our initiative to add some flavour to proceedings.

Yesterday, we had the pleasure of welcoming the Running Late Club, who were founded on similar values and ethics as ourselves and believe that running has just as much a mental benefit, as it does physical. πŸ’ͺ🏾

Who are we?

We identify ourselves as the Neighbourhood Athletes, as we are a community of diverse individuals that found a common interest, running.

Our athletes come with different backgrounds and we have recently learned that some of Cape Town’s finest talent are running amongst us (designers, photographers, engineers, creators & more). Over time our club has expanded and we now have athletes running across the globe. 🌎

Why Late?

The Running Late Club was birthed on a few ideas, and actually has no intention to disrespect anybody’s time.

Our slogan "Rather Late Than Never"- is to encourage all that it is never too late to improve one’s self, reach your goals or take up new hobbies, such as running.

We do also "Run Late" every Wednesday evening. These after hour runs are a great way for athletes to destress and clear their mind after a busy day at work, and/or just to connect with likeminded people who encourage, support and hold each other accountable through the power of camaraderie.

Our mission

The Running Late Club has big dreams and we see our club as more than just a once a week social run, we strive to offer your everyday athletes a safe space to belong, and find a community that will support them in all spheres of life.

We also host Track Nights, Saturday Sessions and your occasional Social Event. We also work with those less fortunate athletes in our community, trying to help them advance from life on the streets, to a place of stability and success.

The Running Late Club's goal is to engineer the future of running, shaping the way people see the sport, as well as themselves. We want see to athletes reach their goals and become the best version of themselves, as we believe that stronger individuals make a powerful collective.

DIY Culture Challenge

That said, we are thrilled to be a part of the World Mental Health Day - DIY Culture Challenge.

We would love to partake and virtually co-host with you. We were thinking to host a relay around town, ending off with coffee and a talk highlighting Mental Health, perhaps sharing personal testimonies.
